These are easily my favorite flowers in the garden and their "unveiling" my favorite garden event. They are Allium Bulgaricum or Sicilian Honey Lily. All day long they had been standing straight and tall in the rain and wind. They were all completely enclosed in their green and white striped "cocoons." Fifteen minutes away from the window, I came back to find that several had slipped out of their cocoons during a howling wind and rain.

detail shows the intricate engraving for which this instrument is famous.
Legendary trombonist Jack Teagarden (shown in lower-left insert)
played one of these. According to Charlie Teagarden,
Jack's brother, the 4H was Jack's favorite horn.

in a medley of Hoagy Carmichael songs.
